Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information KeepCast ("we", "us", "our") collects, why, and what we do with it. It covers both the KeepCast website atkeepcast.app and the KeepCast desktop application for Windows (the "App").

The short version

KeepCast is built to be local-first. Your recordings, screenshots, and edits are created and stored on your own device and arenever uploaded to us unless you explicitly choose to use a future opt-in cloud feature. The website collects only the minimum needed to run a waitlist and understand aggregate traffic.

Information we collect

1. The desktop app

• Recordings, screenshots, and edits stay on your computer, in a folder you control. We do not receive, access, or transmit them. There is no account required to use the local App.
• App settings and logs (your preferences, a local debug log) are stored locally on your device and are not sent to us.
• Calendar connections (optional). If you connect a Google or Microsoft calendar for the meeting auto-record feature, the App uses a standard OAuth sign-in. Access tokens are stored locally on your device, and the App reads your upcoming events directly from Google or Microsoft on your device. Your calendar data is not sent to or stored on KeepCast servers. You can disconnect at any time, which deletes the stored tokens. Our use of information from Google APIs adheres to theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
• Future cloud features (opt-in). Some paid features that don't exist yet (for example cloud backup, share links, or a meeting-summary service) will require sending selected content to our infrastructure. These are strictly opt-in, will be clearly labeled, and this policy will be updated to describe them before they launch.

2. The website

• Waitlist. If you submit the waitlist form, we store the email address you provide (and the source/date of signup) so we can notify you at launch. We use it for that purpose only.
• Privacy-friendly analytics. We use a cookieless, first-party analytics beacon to count page views and understand aggregate traffic (top pages, rough country, referrer). It does not store your IP address or any personal identifier; visitors are counted using a daily, salted, one-way hash that cannot be reversed to identify you, and bots and admin/localhost traffic are excluded.
• Third-party analytics. The public site also loads Google Analytics 4 and a Bing Webmaster verification tag to help us measure aggregate usage and search performance. These may set their own cookies and are governed byGoogle's andMicrosoft's privacy policies.
• Admin access. The private admin area is protected by a password and a signed session cookie; that cookie is functional (sign-in only) and is used solely by the site owner.

How we use your information

• To operate the waitlist and email you about the KeepCast launch.
• To understand aggregate website traffic and improve the product and content.
• To provide features you enable (such as reading your calendar locally for auto-record).
• To operate, secure, and support any paid services you choose to subscribe to.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your recordings to train models.

Service providers we rely on

• Cloudflare — website hosting, and the database that stores waitlist emails and aggregate page-view counts.
• Google Analytics & Bing Webmaster Tools — aggregate website measurement.
• Google & Microsoft — only if you connect a calendar; the connection happens on your device.
• Payment processor (future). When paid plans launch, payments will be handled by a third-party Merchant of Record. They — not us — process and store your payment details. We never see or store your full card number.

Data retention

Waitlist emails are kept until you ask us to remove them or the waitlist is retired. Aggregate analytics are kept in de-identified form. Locally stored data (recordings, settings, calendar tokens) lives on your device until you delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access or delete the personal information we hold about you (realistically, your waitlist email) by contacting [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we will honor valid requests. You can disconnect calendar access in the App at any time, and you can delete your local recordings yourself at any time.

Cookies

Our own analytics are cookieless. Google Analytics and, where applicable, the admin sign-in may set cookies as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Children

KeepCast is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we hold. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but keeping most data on your own device by design meaningfully reduces the risk.

International users

We operate from Bangladesh and use service providers that may process data in other countries. By using the website or App, you understand that limited data (such as your waitlist email) may be processed outside your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as KeepCast evolves — especially before launching any cloud or paid feature. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide clearer notice.
